Extreme Recruitment for Foster Care and Adoption
A Good Idea
Description
Midwest Foster Care and Adoption Association (MFCAA)'s Extreme Recruitment program uses traditional recruitment strategies, supplemented by case file mining, to research and locate all known and unknown relatives and making personal contact with all appropriate family members. This multi-faceted approach significantly increases the resource options available for a child's permanent placement, especially for those children labeled as "hard to place" or unadoptable.
Goal / Mission
The goal of the Extreme Recruitment program is to use MFCAA's expertise in facilitating adoption and kinship placement to find permanent, successful forever homes for foster children who would otherwise remain in foster care or residential treatment until adulthood.
Impact
In its pilot year, the program successfully placed 22 children in permanent homes.
Results / Accomplishments
In its pilot year, the MFCAA Extreme Recruitment team experienced immediate success with all of its initial cases, including finding permanency options for youth that had previously been in residential treatment for years. The original goal was to find placement for 20 children; however, by the end of the first year 22 children were successfully placed.
