A Good Idea

Description

The Metro Public Health Department (MPHD) of Nashville/Davidson County, TN implemented department-wide strategies to focus on their core value of equality. The strategies included professional development and learning experiences to assess and understand how individual biases impact health status, modifying recruitment and interviewing practices to hire staff with an understanding of health equity, and fostering relationships with organizations that serve communities affected by health inequities. MPHD built health equity into its Departmental Strategic Plan and established an Equity Work Group to support the department in attaining its goals.

The mission of the Metro Public Health Department is to protect and improve the health and well-being of all people in Metropolitan Nashville.
