Care-A-Van Mobile Medical Clinic

An Effective Practice

Description

In America today, more than 40 million people lack health insurance (equating to about 15 percent of the population), and four out of five of the uninsured are hard-working families with children. The Care-A-Van is a mobile medical clinic that delivers health services to the uninsured and impoverished working families of the Antelope Valley and Eastern Kern County. The van provides primary care in areas of Eastern Kern County where it is not otherwise available and, whenever possible, helps to arrange specialty care for people who need it.

Goal / Mission

The goal of Care-A-Van is to provide access to medical care for uninsured and impoverished working families.

Results / Accomplishments

The Care-A-Van annually ensures access to medical care for thousands of children and adults who would not otherwise have it. Since its start, it has served more than 15,000 people.
